Scrap Prices

If you have scrap metals you might want to check scrap prices, some materials are way up.  Due to tariffs, oil prices and politics the price of tungsten carbide went thru the roof, I gathered up 167 pounds of it and have a quote of $52 per pound, you do the math.

Been cleaning out the Plumbing shop here. Things have changed over the years so much I''ll never use 70 % of what I have here.  What a shame. Scrapping is a good thing but a LOT of labor sorting it to make it worthwhile . Only do it when I'm bored. And then there are all the tools and equipment to deal with.

I felt cheated the last time I sold to them.  Carbide is off the radar for local scrap yards, I dealt with Kennametal, they send a container and pick it up.

Yes, it is heavier than lead.

Nearly all of it is bar stock of all sizes, typically 4 inches long.  The price was the same for all forms of carbide.

Makes sense,   that's not scrap to a tooling manufacturer.
