About 30 Amish buggies at my neighbors this morning.

I took my daily walk around the farm and got a few pics.

A fellow in our Sunday School Class drives Amish when they need to go further than the horses will take them.  Every week he's taking them to the train station, hospital or to special events either in Missouri and often times in other states.  He has done this for several years and really enjoys being with them.  Even though Roger has a prosthetic foot and is in his 80's he'll get up in the middle of the night to haul them.  He won't work for pay on Sunday but will make an exception for hospital runs and often  times won't charge them for that type of trip.

Roger has a long white beard and could fit in with his customers.  He also has insight as an English that most of us will never have.  He has even stayed in Amish homes on these trips (saving the Amish paying for a hotel room.)  and he and his wife attend special occasions that you and I wouldn't be welcome to.

This morning in class, Roger said he was suppose to pick up Amish folks at train station in Kansas City, some 2 1/2 hours drive, but received a call they missed their train (apparently not unusual) and ended up driving to St. Louis some 4 hours away.

I do some hauling for my neighbor.  Mainly to and from the butcher shop which is a 3hour rt by buggy.    He always asks "vuts mu bill".   I just reach out and shake his hand and thank him for outbidding the developers when he bought the farm at auction.

When he is harvesting his produce, I'll often find a head of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, or a cantaloupe in my yard.  I guess it falls of the wagon.
