Busted Zerk Fitting On Mower Deck

Recommended Posts

hotajax

So I have a 48 inch deck to fit on my 314-8,  The zerk for the center pulley ( i. e. the big pulley that drives 2 belts ) has a broken zerk.  Center of the zerk that fits into the grease gun snapped off, and I have a big open hole the piece that's still threaded into the pulley.  Do you gents know the thread sizes for the zerk that goes into the pulley?  I'm sure it's a common size, but I don't know what it is.  Thanks.

Most likely 1/4-28 fine thread - maybe 1/8 NPT.

You can try using an Easy-out to extract the broken piece.

Should be a 1/4-28 thread.

The lift arm hits that zerk.  Some of the later model Wheel Horse had a hole drill in the lift rod for a waher and clip pin to keep it away,

I always replace that zerk with a set screw after greasing.

WHX??

I'll go with the 1/4 -28 crowd and a 5/16 wrench if there is anything left to bite on. If not a easy out and it should come out fairly easy with the grease being there. They are usually not that tight.

I'm not that guy that's lucky enough to have the improved configuration.
