hotajax 270 #1 Posted March 13 So I have a 48 inch deck to fit on my 314-8, The zerk for the center pulley ( i. e. the big pulley that drives 2 belts ) has a broken zerk. Center of the zerk that fits into the grease gun snapped off, and I have a big open hole the piece that's still threaded into the pulley. Do you gents know the thread sizes for the zerk that goes into the pulley? I'm sure it's a common size, but I don't know what it is. Thanks.
ri702bill 12,102 #2 Posted March 13 Most likely 1/4-28 fine thread - maybe 1/8 NPT. You can try using an Easy-out to extract the broken piece.
Chaz54 99 #3 Posted March 13 Should be a 1/4-28 thread.
Lee1977 7,637 #4 Posted March 13 The lift arm hits that zerk. Some of the later model Wheel Horse had a hole drill in the lift rod for a waher and clip pin to keep it away, 3
Ed Kennell 46,072 #5 Posted March 14 I always replace that zerk with a set screw after greasing.
WHX?? 56,594 #6 Posted March 14 I'll go with the 1/4 -28 crowd and a 5/16 wrench if there is anything left to bite on. If not a easy out and it should come out fairly easy with the grease being there. They are usually not that tight.
WHX?? 56,594 #8 Posted March 14 That's a handy one Paul.

Chaz: I yanked out one of the good zerks, and the one that came out was that size, but it looked tapered. It's only 1/4 " of thread that goes into the top of the pulley. Not much to hold it. Is that correct - tapered? Thanks.
WHX?? 56,594 #11 Posted March 16 Yes they do look tapered. There is a long and a short style. The short style there isn't much for threads.
