Keep one of these Thermal fuses in stock. My local appliance store has these in a bushel basket out back! They normally burn out on a late Sat afternoon or Sunday!

@ri702bill nicely done on that !! , no matter what , a repetitive problem is , its showing you the way  , to correct it , make it better  .  https://www.google.com/search?q=screw+in+eye+bolt+rings&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS866US866&oq=screw+in+eye+bolt+rings+&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYO  added these to my  shed framing , for a  spring hook  to hold my mower decks off season . makes heavy awkward  holding  easy  .  out of the box , pete

The "word on the street" is that newer Kenmore dryers were cost reduced where the thermal fuse is now inside the plenum and non-serviceable for singular replacement.

You now need to drop a pair or Bemjamins for the whole plenum assembly - did i mention it is also not a take-apart design to allow cleaning anymore.....

I'm in the process of replacing the drum rollers for the third time in daughter's dryer.  It  get's a lot of use with family of five.  This time I'm replacing the "axles" the roller rotate on which requires digging quite a bit deeper into the machine.  I'm thinking about using dry graphite on the "axles".   Of course, replacing rollers means deep cleaning that otherwise wouldn't get done.

It irks me that there seems to  be planned obsolescence in machinery.  I'm sure two dollars more for sealed bearings would make sure they'd last the life of the machine.

Those handles are a great add-on.

Perhaps sealed ball beraings may not be the right choice here due to the proximity of heat involved...

And as for the first part, something I learned from breaking parts on our circle track car..... Replacements parts are only as good as the parts they replace....

We used to have a good used appliance store here. Bought Washers, Dryers, Stoves and Fridges from them with great results.  They supplied parts and I bought quite a bit from them for the hospital fridges. They closed during covid. :(

The real cool thing was getting a used dryer and taking the front off and digging thru the front seal for treasure. Coins, earrings, screws, paperclips, wire nuts. all sorts of stuff! :banana-wrench:

@Beap52 on the roller issue , would zero in on the rotational drag , repetitive failure , routinely  remove  bearing side shields , and clean out  original  lube , lucas  x tra HD  green chassis grease , repack , 550 deg  flash point  / polyurea rating , retains grease . never had a repeat  bearing failure with this , transition . all my decks and related pulleys / spindles , are  failure free , Walmart  $ 8 , do not count on ORIGINAL  SEALED BEARING LUBE ,  KNOW WHATS IN THERE , my mule  drive set ups spins by hand , just a suggestion . pete
