Valves adjusted and heads back on and torqued down then finally got around to taking carb off of manifold for good ol soak and clean and low and behold barely tapped manifold, because they were stuck together, and manifold came apart in two pieces. Figured that was what was causing the surging issues. In above post you can see I already had another manifold that had been taken apart and resealed so no biggie, but it had no provision for vacuum gauge, so I had to drill and tap it for hose fitting. Slowly getting there :D. I did get a chance to clean motor and rest of tractor and boy did that Eaton need a good cleaning off.

Got a little more done today. Carb cleaned, mounted and manilfold torqed down. I cant belive it ran as good as it did with all the trash in carb. Had wrong fuel bowl to carb top gasket so had to use old one, then found a new one of the right style . Also got engine tins painted and guess thats what needs to go back on next. Probably need to check that 9 pin connector Ive read so much about while I got motor pulled out of the way :D

I guess this thread has kind of morphed into more of a restoration thread and if Mods want to move it to a more appropriate forum that would be fine. Or leave as is will be fine also.

Got exhaust back on and Almost got all the tins back on but the last 2 that go over exhaust pipes. Going to have to do a little trimming because they are indeed rubbing the intake manifold.

Just an update, ran out of fuel line and held me up a day or two. Had ordered some Gates barricade from jungle site and it was a little delayed getting here. You can get it for $2.50 a foot from there compared to $8.99 a foot local :angry-banghead:. I did get it fired up and all seems well still cant get over that oppesed 2cyl. Hum :D. All I like is air cleaner belt gaurd and hood to be done. Going to try and adjust neutral position before I get it all buttoned back up. Still haven’t decided if I am going to convert it back from foot control to steering column for hydro control? BTW I could use a vacuum/power gauge if anyone has one.

Pull the PTO clutch and tighten all of the bolts around the crank bearing retainer if you haven't already.
