Eddie Murphy’s tractor

A few years ago someone here posted that they had (if I remember correctly) a 418? that belonged to Eddie Murphy, yes that Eddie Murphy. It was not for sale, the gentleman wanted to hold onto it. Now I’m not exactly in the position to buy another tractor right now, but I have a 418-8 and a 418-C so to complete the 418’s a 418-A would be nice. I was just wondering if anyone remembers who that was that posted that? And if in fact it was a 418-A? If so and it were ever to come up for sale I might be interested in it. As I remember it was in very good condition and given its history it would be cool to add to my collection.

That is exactly it @ineedanother! Thank you! I don’t think we’ve heard from @johnnymag3 in quite a while here? And yes, as I remember that Eddie Murphy tractor is in very good condition. So is @Ike’s 130hr 418. I think there was some movement in the zipper area of my pants when I read 130hrs! I’d like to see more photos of both of them. Maybe someday I can put one of them in with my 400 series?

Yes! you're on another level than most of us  but we can usually find a good reason to tell our wives why we just have to have another

My wife loves critters of all kinds. Because of that, I decided years ago to preemptively make a plan for all my toys: I told her for every tractor I get, she gets another pet. 

 

Seemed great until I realized that feeding and housing animals is typically far more expensive than tractors... Clearly I failed to think this through. We now live on a farm with a donkey, 5 pygmie goats, 4 dogs, and 3 cats. Of course this is a fluid list that changes regularly. Usually increasing more than not. 

 

I have 8 Wheel Horses. I'm thinking that somehow my original "deal" has been incorrectly applied here... 

 

I know, just get more tractors. We'll see I guess.

I went the other way KP ... told her I would sell four tractors for a couple a lousy chickens. Ended up selling and no chickens yet.

Yes that's the man, I've done some business with him. All of his tractors are meticulously maintained. The 418-A was Eddie Murphy's tractor, yes that Eddie Murphy. He met Eddie and bought the tractor from him. He has more than one 418-A, I'm not sure if he's interested in selling them.

Oh boy !!!!  New information for me to work with.  Just wait until TSC gets their baby chicks in. Guess who's gonna end up with some dropped off at their house.

The other day I was purchasing flowers to bring to my wife at work and ran into a friend. First thing the guy says is “What did you do wrong?! Then on the way to her office her  coworker said the same thing to me!! I in fact didn’t do anything wrong, I just bring her flowers randomly a few times a year so when I do something stupid I’m ahead of the game. Seems to be helping 🤣🤣

Several years ago I accidently cut the end of a finger off. ER was able to reattach it and gave me a prescription for pane relievers. The pharmacist told me anyone stupid enough to do that had better stop and buy some flowers for the wife to soften the blow.  When my wife got home and saw flowers on the dining room table she said, "what did you do wrong this time". Guess she knows me too well.

Years back I came home and handed her a snow shovel

Her "What's this for?"

Me "You wanted me to get rid of the tractors so I sold a couple. Now WE need to do the snow by hand"

She doesn't really pay too much attention to my tractor hobby anymore! 

Maybe flowers would've better but...

Hi Don......

   I still have the Eddie Murphy Tractor.......My son as Darb can attest to has a match also a 418-A ......Many folks here from Red Square have seen my herd and purchased many things from me through the years  ....

@johnnymag3 when you say Eddie Murphy do you mean like Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy? Probably not the Eddie Murphy I’m thinking of, I doubt thathe cuts his own grass!!!

Here is my 418-A.  It now has 138 hrs and it is such a smooth running machine! It is a bit dusty still holding up.

Beautiful 418 @Ike ! Are you the original owner? Don’t see many with that little amount of time on the clock. Certainly looks well taken care of. Don’t be afraid to post more pictures of it since this thread is about 418’s !! 
 I remember after I bought my Work Horse GT-1800 in 1984 and then seeing those 417 and 418’s that came out kinda wishing I had one of those instead. I remember looking at the brochure and thinking “Damn, those are really nice!” Now I’m very fortunate have both.

I’m not the original owner.  I found a guy a few years ago near Germansville, Pa who did home / estate cleanouts who listed it for sale with a bunch of other stuff including a 520-H.  All low hour stuff sitting in a garage for many years.  I sold off some stuff but kept the 418-A.  I try to put a few hours a year on it to keep it running good.  Always use ethanol free gas in all my stuff and it makes a huge difference in performance.
