Retired Wrencher 6,451 #1 Posted 11 hours ago i’m looking for some information on how to remove overspray paint. It looks like somebody wanted to paint the hood a different color. It’s not the whole hood, but it’s in the front. Especially on the decal on the hood. I’ve heard something about citrus that may work. Any thoughts are welcome

953 nut 64,127 #3 Posted 10 hours ago (edited) If it is overspray clay bar will get the job done. If it is lightly painted use Goof off Edited 10 hours ago by 953 nut
Achto 31,017 #4 Posted 10 hours ago How much over spray are we talikin' about? Charcoal lighter fluid some times works to get some heavier over spray off. Always try a test spot to make sure it don't take the original paint off. Usually pretty safe though. Safest bet would be a clay bar. Not the easiest, it's gonna take some elbow grease. Use with water & keep kneading the clay bar as it plugs up with paint. One source for a clay bar kit. There are many options out there though. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s-Smooth-Surface-Clay-Kit-Safe-and-Easy-Car-Claying-for-a-smooth-as-Glass-Finish-G191700/279897515
702854boy 504 #5 Posted 8 hours ago If you feel like spending a fortune I've found that brake clean works good at removing new spray paint over old, just don't let it sit too long and you'll be fine. Also make sure to do it outside or you might get a little loopy.
rmaynard 16,869 #6 Posted 7 hours ago Regular compound (not polishing) will work.

What about decals? The front decal has splatters like some one was using it for a table.
