On my Hot Rod Kohler Command, I had to have the cylinders honed a little bit to provide additional clearance for forged pistons. Forged pistons are made of low silicon 2618 for high tensile strength and ductility. The OEM cast pistons are high silicon and has lower thermal expansion.
