The fitting and nut seem to be in good condition but the seals appear to be pretty cracked and the one fitting is able to slip off the end of the line so I wasn't sure what was needed to flare and reseal. Because the pump and carb are both solidly mounted to the engine I don't think that would be a problem. Being compression fittings there's no rubber seal for the fuel to attack. I did that shortly after I got the tractor at the 2018 show and it's been fine. That 854 is dedicated to the sickle mower so a breakdown is nothing more than a nuisance but I'd likely still go electric if there was an issue. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Let me know if you want them. I’ll just send them to you. You’re also gonna need the little rubber grommets on the end. I believe I have the part number for that. The vibration being guarded against is the vibration of the unanchored tubing itself within the compression fitting across all the frequencies the engine can sustain. Yes, you might do it and never have an issue, but the best practice (as demonstrated by Kohler using them) is to use anti-vibration fittings like those Lowell is selling ($15 a pair). Racinbob 12,878 #16 Posted February 25 Wheel Horse used those fittings 60 years ago because it was what was used back then. It had zero to do with vibration of the unanchored components and Kohler never intended it to do so. Rest assured, compression fittings will do just fine. They just aren't 'factory original'.
