Wobbly Rear Wheel - Concerning?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Will try to keep it short and sweet. Today, while trying to move the 312-8 around in the slush and snow on some brand new Carlisle All Trail tires I just installed, I started to spin out in the snow and mud. I looked down at my rear wheel, and I noticed it looked wobbly. I tried to take a video below. When slipping the other wheel, it looked fine and symmetrical.

I just had these tires installed by a shop that, for other reasons, I won't be returning to. The owner commented one tire was easy to install and the other gave him trouble. I'm now wondering if he bent one of the rims a bit, resulting in this wobble. Maybe I'm not familiar enough with installing tires, but I'd think any damage when installing tires would be directly to the bead area of the rim, not a slight bend/warp in the entire rim? Or am I wrong?

Any other ideas here? This weekend I am planning on jacking her up, and letting her run in first gear in the air and looking at both tires. If I have time I'll swap wheels too and confirm it's the wheel and not the axle.

Ultimately, if he did bend my rim, is it really concerning? Or am I fine to just let it go? 9 times out of 10 I'm running this on uneven woodland terrain, so I doubt I'd feel any imbalance, but these are brand new tires and I don't want to wreck the tread if it's a problem.

Appreciate the advice guys!

Is the wheel seated on the hub properly?

@Ed Kennell I thought I reinstalled the wheels correctly, though I will admit that I did this in my tight little shed. Hoping enough snow melts so that Fri I can bring this horse up to the garage and get a better look under bright light.

Can report back then, but my hunch here is the wheel is bent and was curious how common this was and if it was a concern if that is the case

In general...gt wheels are very difficult to bend, its not something you would ever do accidentally or with any hand tool.  Id guess not seated on the hub or bent axle
