What do you use.

I have a 1057 I am working on. Looking for a different muffler than the stock one that it came with. Because they’re loud and this was an actual Kohler brand muffler. Let me know what you guys use on these old tractors that is fairly quiet. I have been using the short gravely muffler. They’re nice much quieter than the original screw on Kohler muffler. . Let me know what you’re thinking.

The Gravely one…does it point down? Seems like that would make it quieter.

I have a bunch of short stacks (not straight pipes) here and I like em. Quiet and they look good. That’s my opinion anyway

Is this what you are calling a Gravely muffler?

Not pretty, but this is what I have had on my 314 for the past few years.  Its cheap off the jungle site, works/sounds fine

Is it only attached using that clamp? Or were you able to use that bracket I see on it for added support?

Those Gravely mufflers aren't what they used to be. They used to be very heavy and quiet. Now they are just tin cans.

WHX??

I shouldn't say anything since I'm an original freak but I'll second the cub muff. Very mello and has a pleasing chug chug sound.

Naw most guys just cut them off. It's pretty light & doesn't need any additional support. Cut the outlet off square and you can add a tink tink.

Bad part for Wrencher Is he would almost have to take the original off to the block  & we know that getting the nipple out of the block can be a rite of passage.

I have one of those NOS gravely types if your interested Wrencher.

yup, just the clamp.  Threaded pipe nipple in the head to a 45 to a cut off pipe and clamped.  I have mine aimed straight up.  It’s been that way for 100’s of hours of use with no issues.  I keep wanting to cut that bracket off, but it’s been a few years and at this point, I’m assuming I’ll never get around to it :D
