Where the heck was 953 nut?

This little saga began in November. I have had hand tremors for several years and started a new prescription to deal with them.

In early January I developed shingles and my doctor prescribed two medications; they stopped the shingles in their tracks. A few days later I began having tremors throughout my body, two of the medications were having a battle and neither one could be stopped clod turkey. My doctor developed an accelerated plan to get me off both. They weren’t shown as being incompatible.

This resulted in me being sedentary for about three weeks. In all likelihood this resulted in the blood clots forming

Monday, January 26. I was feeling good and spent some time exercising. The next morning was normal, then after lunch I experienced a severe pain behind my right ribcage. Paramedics took me to our local hospital and after some imaging I was transferred to the hospital in Asheville, NC, The following morning doctors removed several blood clots from my right lung. One of the clots was six inches long.

Further imaging showed no further clots.

They also discovered that I had Atrial Fibrillation and stopped then restarted my heart putting it back in normal rhythm.

Under normal circumstances I would not have been released the same day but with the impending snow storm they sent me home.

Thank God for all of the wonderful medical professionals who cared for me.

Thanks for the update Richard.    Sure glad the help was there to figure  out the problem and discover the afib while help was available.

Mrs. K had her first afib attack about three years ago at home and of course we assumed it was a heart attack.   After some training on how to recognize an attack and several ways to physically get the heart back in rhythm, her following attacks were easier to deal with.   The meds she is on now have prevented attacks for two years.

I can’t imagine what it takes to pull a clot from a lung, but I’m super glad they have the ability to do so!  Glad to have you still kicking around, Mr. Richard!

Richard, you are the proverbial "Timex watch" guy. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I'm glad you are on the mend. Afib is not fun. I was first diagnosed with Paroxysmal Afib in 1995 and it has been getting progressively worse ever since. In 2019 I was put on blood thinners to prevent blood clots and strokes. I'm now considering an ablation to electrically kill the nerves that are triggering the Afib.

 

But enough about me. Richard, we are glad you are back.

Glad you are doing better  missed you. Had you ever had the shingles vaccine either the old one or the more recent??

I have had the3m both, the first about a dozen years or more ago and the Shingrix five or six years ago. They are 90% effective,  guess I'm part of the 10%
