Wayne0 1,543 #1 Posted January 26 So, what do you guys use for replacement auger bearings on a 2 stage? Toro or after market?
rjg854 12,911 #2 Posted January 26 I don't have a 2 stage, but when I changed the ones in my SS blower I used after market, haven't had and problem and that was 8-10 years ago.
Wayne0 1,543 #3 Posted January 26 Actually, the Toro are bushings, not ball bearings. Anyone convert?
WHX?? 55,829 #4 Posted January 26 (edited) Yep ... a few threads here on doing it. Actually not that difficult. The spacer plates I made from 1/4" aluminum flat stock. The bearings are just 3/4 bore lock collar flange bearings. Only regret was i wished I woulda used relube bearings but that's all TSC had on the rack and I was in giterdone mode. WHX?? 55,829 #6 Posted January 27 While your at it consider the center support. really helps with vibration and gotta reduce wear & tear on the gearbox.
peter lena 9,812 #7 Posted January 27 @Wayne0 just the way I see it , its not one thing , its every collective movement spot . did over a2 stage that was frozen with rust / neglect , those small related gear boxes , require a specific cold weather lube , VERIFY MOVEMENT IMPROVEMENT AS YOU GO , you obviousely have a number of hang up spots . use that mind set on anything , would also verify your PTO MUEL DRIVE SET UP ? FOR RELATED , DRAGGING BEARINGS . realise I sound like a broken record , never had a rotational bearing lubrication failure , with clean out and lucas green chassis grease . those 2 stage units , need al the help they can get . pete

Another great idea! I've got some 1/8" x 3" aluminum that would work. Edited January 27 by Wayne0
