That broken LF spindle looks awfully busy. It is the Master side, the RF is moved by it thru the tierod. Is the LF a 3-piece assembly - lower, shaft and upper or are the lower and shaft 2 parts welded into one?? Looks repairable if you cannot find a good used one.

The top part that the steering box hooks up to is roll pinned onto the spindle but the part that goes through the axle and the part on the wheel is supposed to be one piece and from the looks of it, its going to be a pain in the butt to weld if we have to because the bottom part needs to be flat since it goes right against the axle.

@702854boy I have a CC 122. If there are pics you need I can send them along. Mine is a 1966 but I assume they are similar.

@PWL216, do you know how to get the steering wheel shaft out of the steering box? as my steering wheel is stuck on it and already cracked from age and I don't want to break it.

Well with some observing how everything went together I was able to loosen the part that goes through the steering box and connects to the wheels and take the bottom cap of the steering box off and hammer on the metal part that went through the steering wheel and the shift popped right out. It is most likely going back together with a nice coating of the silver cancer. I also noticed that there is a chip missing out of the head so now I need a k301 head. After I got the steering wheel out of the way I was able to take the hood stand off so that I can redo the wiring and weld up the fatigue cracks when I get to that point.

Would the head off of a 14 horse Kohler work on the 12 horse?
