Name this Horse!!

I got this 1974 Wheelhorse C160-8 that used to have a Tecumseh engine.

Now it's getting a Briggs Vanguard.

Also, combining the tractor with a whole bunch of parts from the 520 series. 24 x 12 x 12 rear tires.

17" diameter steering wheel from a race car.

Gear reduction steering.

Splayed forward front axle.

I'm going from a 16 HP to a 20 HP engine.....

I asked the interwebs what the strongest pulling horse is...

Trina and I talked it over.

She knows horses. Both kinds.

There's Percherons. Belgians. And Shire.

I like Shire because it gives a nod to the Lord of the Rings as well.

I also wanted to reference the fact that it's not all "Horse" because of that Briggs engine.

"The Shire Mule"

What else ya got???

Beorn

Beorn is a character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, is a skin-changer who can transform into a large black bear. He is known for his immense strength, his role in aiding Thorin and Company during their quest, and for leading the Beornings, a group of men who inhabit the Vales of Anduin.

A lot of similarities with both the tractor and your affinity for Ursidae...

I haven't named any of my tractors, even if I thought of a good name.

Nothing against it at all. It's just that I can barely keep all my kid's names in my mind so I'm just trying not to confuse myself...

"The Shire Mule"

Mules are a mix of two breeds so I get the nod to the mixed ancestry. Shire is a single breed of workhorse. Mixed metaphor there.

Consider stepping away from straining the “hybrid” motif and just choosing a short name derived from one of the best strong horses? Dutch, Perch, Belge, Dale?

Or go further afield...

Many consider the Grizzly Bear the most flexible of large mammals--smart, powerful, adaptable. Grizzle indicated a mix of gray and brown/black hair (though Grizzle has also come to mean “whiney”, sigh).

Puha is a Cherokee word for strength.

Adriel: Navajo name meaning "he is strong” (or derivations Galadriel or Andriel from LOTR)
Winyan: Lakota name meaning “she is strong"

Robus (short for robust or robustus (Latin)

We had names for vehicles in the army..  It was a two part name ending in truck.  The first word was dependent on the trucks situation, stuck, or broke down,  needing a lot of maintenance,  cleanliness, etc.  Unfortunately none of the first words are allowed here:P  If the truck was broke down and stuck at the same time additional lead in names would be applied.:P

I like Bills suggestion, but would shorten it to just Clyde.

Pullstart

Since it’s for a Vanguard, and you’re piecing it together, I vote for Vanderbilt.
