When someone replies to a post that you wish to reply back to, are you supposed to click the "QUOTE" box or start a new reply or please let me know.  Thanks.

I click/poke/touch  "Quote" and what you see above happens. 

 

If a post I "Quote" has pictures I delete the pics by highlighting them and touching either back space or the space bar.

You can do either but if you choose "quote" it notifies that person that you replied to their post.

True.... or "Mention" by using their handle. 

Example:

@Blasterdad

 

 

 

See above. 

Click the "@" symbol and start typing the user's handle. 

You'll see a list that gets smaller as you type more letters.  

 

Click the correct name and it should get highlighted.

If you highlight the words you wish to comment on a little drop down box will appear that will sat "Quote". Click on the box and your new reply will have that statement above it.
