Jean Shepherd was a staple in that household. A Christmas Story will forever remind me of " Crazy Paul" and his family's tremendous hospitality. Years later, I found myself working in Cleveland and had the opportunity to see the house that was used for the outdoor shots. Good memories- will always be a holiday movie favorite . 1

adsm08 4,155 #7 Posted December 24, 2025 I like Dickens' "Christmas Carroll" in any form, however Mickey's and Muppets are my favorite.
rmaynard 16,837 #8 Posted December 24, 2025 For me it's a toss-up between ELF, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, and Christmas with the Kranks.

Bar Nuthin 2,167 #10 Posted December 24, 2025 I lean towards the classics like It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street. But the other night I re-watched The Christmas Chronicles, with Kurt Russel. I find it very entertaining!

It's a Wonderful Life is a tradition in my family, however there has been much debate over the years as to which is the better version, the original black and white, or the colorized one.

kpinnc 16,989 #13 Posted December 25, 2025 (edited) Christmas Vacation somehow ended up being my families favorite. The lubed up "super slide" and the cat chewing the Christmas lights are my favorites.... Sadly, what makes it funny is how much of it is so relatable, regardless of how absurd it is to see it happen to someone else. On our way to pick up my 420-LSE in Ohio in 2021 we stopped at the Christmas Story House. It was in the beginning of October in the middle of the week. I remember thinking that we probably would be the only ones there, wrong! There was a half hour wait to go inside because the line was so long! I couldn’t believe it. Seeing it first hand was pretty cool I must admit. I purchased a book on the movie from the gift shop across the street which has all kinds of fun facts about the movie. The fire truck is stored across the street from the house, and although it is not the exact truck that was used in the movie it is a great replica. 2
