I'm also in NC and I know how these old machines have become much more scarce over the last 10 years. I'm closer to Charlotte and Wheel Horses were all over the place not too long ago. I'm somewhat surprised to see someone with one at the coast.

I'm somewhat surprised to see someone with one at the coast. I had to travel 2 hours away to get this one. Not much for tractors in Wilmington, I would have a yard full of them if there was. The engine is still good and I put it against the wall in my garage. The whole tractor is a little rough and mower deck has been patched. I bought it specifically for this project.

Richard’s 314-8 25 #19 Posted 4 hours ago I made the belt tensioner last week. Originally was using the existing v-pulley from the factory belt tensioner but then decided to use the flat pulley from the mower deck tensioner to get a better wrap around the drive pulley to prevent slipping. I have 3 different drive pulleys to try, 4” that matches original engine, 3-1/2 that I have installed, and a 3” pulley. 1
wallfish 18,805 #20 Posted 4 hours ago Nice project! I like that flat idler pinching the belt idea much better for that application.
wallfish 18,805 #21 Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Once had an idea to try building a hybrid tractor but I just don't have the electrical knowledge needed to pull it off. Maybe I'll have the time to research and learn once retired. Basically all self contained so it could charge and also run off the small gas engine. Did an electric one a long time ago but used a starter generator motor. Definitely not as efficient or powerful as that motor. But it could cruise around for about an hour off one 12v deep cycle battery. It was built for a friend's daughter so it was also a fish tank "powered" tractor. I think you can build the hybrid with research, it would be a fun rewarding project
