Cathie 2 #1 Posted December 1 Tractor: 312-A Snowblower: 06-42ST05 The snowblower blower came with my first 312-A. It wasn't easy, but I could lift it with two hands and not feel like the lever was going to break. I have a second 312-A I just tried attaching the blower to, and I cannot lift it on my own using the lever at all. The lift rod does not have the spring assist bracket on it. It's part #1986 Lift rod is attached on the highest hole of the bellcrank. (First 312-A is down for repairs) Any recommendations for a solution appreciated! wallfish 18,782 #2 Posted December 1 (edited) The lift flag is probably connected in the wrong hole on the bell crank lever. Connect it in the closest hole to the center. Edited December 1 by wallfish 2

Racinbob 12,422 #4 Posted December 1 I pretty much consider a lift assist spring a must on a show thrower. Adjusted properly and with the flag connected to the proper hole as shown it's a pretty easy lift even for a wimpy guy like me. I would find a flag with a tab or modify the one you have. Some guys have add an assist on the front so maybe they can chime in here with their ideas. to 3
ri702bill 10,567 #5 Posted December 1 Yup - the assist spring, when properly adjusted, helps greatly. The NOS 1963 one I scored did not have the tab on the flag; I added one. Over-adjust the tension and the snowblower bounces and rides up over the snow.... 2
squonk 44,860 #6 Posted December 1 Yes, make sure the flag is in this hole. 2
Ed Kennell 43,775 #7 Posted December 1 Should require the same force if the flag was in the top hole on both tractors. The only differences I can think of is the orientation of the push rod where it attaches to the blower and/or the lubrication of the lift arm bell crank. to the 1
953 nut 62,992 #8 Posted December 1 (edited) @SylvanLakeWH has a small electric winch mounted up front to lift the snow plow, perhaps he can share some pictures. Edited December 1 by 953 nut fat finger 1
Cathie 2 #9 Posted December 1 Thanks all for the ideas! The flag was mounted on the highest hole. I'll add a tab to my flag and putt in a lift spring.

ri702bill 10,567 #11 Posted December 1 That assist spring is a "heavy" one, similar to the plow trip springs in size, but shorter with hooks at the ends. I believe Lowell sells them...
