Cathie 2 #1 Posted 15 hours ago Tractor: 312-A Snowblower: 06-42ST05 The snowblower blower came with my first 312-A. It wasn't easy, but I could lift it with two hands and not feel like the lever was going to break. I have a second 312-A I just tried attaching the blower to, and I cannot lift it on my own using the lever at all. The lift rod does not have the spring assist bracket on it. It's part #1986 Lift rod is attached on the highest hole of the bellcrank. (First 312-A is down for repairs) Any recommendations for a solution appreciated! wallfish 18,708 #2 Posted 14 hours ago (edited) The lift flag is probably connected in the wrong hole on the bell crank lever. Connect it in the closest hole to the center. Edited 14 hours ago by wallfish 2

Racinbob 12,347 #4 Posted 6 hours ago I pretty much consider a lift assist spring a must on a show thrower. Adjusted properly and with the flag connected to the proper hole as shown it's a pretty easy lift even for a wimpy guy like me. I would find a flag with a tab or modify the one you have. Some guys have add an assist on the front so maybe they can chime in here with their ideas. to 3
ri702bill 10,391 #5 Posted 6 hours ago Yup - the assist spring, when properly adjusted, helps greatly. The NOS 1963 one I scored did not have the tab on the flag; I added one. Over-adjust the tension and the snowblower bounces and rides up over the snow.... 2
squonk 44,802 #6 Posted 5 hours ago Yes, make sure the flag is in this hole. 2
Ed Kennell 43,466 #7 Posted 4 hours ago Should require the same force if the flag was in the top hole on both tractors. The only differences I can think of is the orientation of the push rod where it attaches to the blower and/or the lubrication of the lift arm bell crank. to the 1
953 nut 62,682 #8 Posted 4 hours ago (edited) @SylvanLakeWH has a small electric winch mounted up front to lift the snow plow, perhaps he can share some pictures. Edited 4 hours ago by 953 nut fat finger 1
Cathie 2 #9 Posted 3 hours ago Thanks all for the ideas! The flag was mounted on the highest hole. I'll add a tab to my flag and putt in a lift spring.

ri702bill 10,391 #11 Posted 2 hours ago That assist spring is a "heavy" one, similar to the plow trip springs in size, but shorter with hooks at the ends. I believe Lowell sells them...
