ebinmaine 75,073 #1 Posted Thursday at 04:08 PM (edited) So while Trina was at our favorite small engine repair place yesterday to pick up the trimmer she spied this beauty.. 1954 Huot top. I'll let the pics tell the story. If anyone can identify the base cabinet I'd appreciate it. Replacement Craftsmen drawers on a (military green? ) base. It did continue into the 80's - 90's, some of these would have the "quiet glide" drawers. 1

MainelyWheelhorse 2,166 #6 Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM @ebinmaine looks to be in good condition, not beat into the ground. And looks old enough to last for a few more decades. Great Score!!! 1
squonk 44,786 #7 Posted yesterday at 12:39 PM Yes the bottom is Craftsman. I had the exact same box when I started working in 79. The first shop I was at I had to move from stall to stall and it really wouldn't handle the stress of movement so I had to upgrade. My current Mac box isn't much bigger but it was built so much better and over twice the weight empty.

I was crying about the price of my Snap-On box when I bought it back in the early 90's. My dealers selling line - "If you are buying a tool box by the pound, Snap-On is the cheapest one on the market." Not sure if that was true, but he was able to sell me a tool box.
squonk 44,786 #9 Posted 14 hours ago I bought my current Mac box around 1990. About 6 years ago I was cleaning the garage, and went to move it. I forgot to lock the drawers. I can barely roll it because it's so heavy. Well I got it moving but a wheel hit something on the floor and stopped it dead. All of the drawers came out and it toppled over. Tools everywhere and several bent drawer slides. I get the phone# for Mac corporate and tell them what happened. They sent me all new slides free of charge!
