"Straight From The Horses Mouth" -- 2nd edition

Recommended Posts

TT

His info on the "new" book:

"Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give an update on my new Wheel Horse book. I have finally

finished the

book and will be going to print next week. The debut of the new book will be at

the show

this June in Pa. Both Cecil Pond and I will be there signing the books.

This 2nd limited edition is not just a reprint of the first edition. It is

greatly expanded with

much, much more information, stories, photos, documents, etc. There is even a

huge

expanded section on the Indy 2 1/2 events. Having said all that, another

amazing part of

the new book is an audio CD (included) featuring Cecil Pond reading the forward

to the

book. This professional qaulity recording will preserve Mr. Pond's voice for

many

generations to follow. I am very proud of this 2nd. edition. I know that you

will all enjoy it

even more than the first edition.

With Great Pride,

Mike Martino"

So I guess we can assume we can get a copy even if we don't go to the show. Off hand I can't remember the publishing company but I think I can find out where it will be on sale online.

It's something like "Stemgas" publishing, I believe.

I'd have to go look at my book.

Yes, it was Stemgas... or Ogden Publications. they produce all the antique machinery magazines like Farm collector and Gas Engine Magazine.

Boy, that would be great. I have tried to get a copy at a reasonable price for quite a while, but it was always too much.

I sure hope you don't have to save TOO MUCH money, Ben. :P

If it's more than $30.00 or $35.00, he can keep it. (unless a real tractor comes with it too. :D )

I'm saving my money for Wild Bill's  854 "toy"!

rwilson,

If I remember correctly this was a limited 2nd edition book that he was only making X amount of..I am not sure but probably not avalible any longer other than someone that might have one they don't want or maybe someone that bought a few to collect and resell some day..I bet for a good amount of money too..If you have the first edition then its almost the same exact book other than a few more details and pictures..Second edition also came with a cd recording of Cecil Pond Which I have not yet listened to..

I too am looking for this book..I brought it up a week or so ago in another, older thread..what I found out:

The Author recently sold off all his remaining copies on ebay, about 20 copies,

in early December 2009. (only one month before I became aware of the books existence! isnt that always the way? :WRS::banghead:

The book is now sold-out..there is no current way to buy a copy except through used-book dealers, who are selling them for over $100.

there are one or two copies available on-line, (try amazon.com)

if you want to pay that price..

those of us who dont have this book, (and dont want to pay $100,)

are hoping there will be a 3rd printing!

the demand still seems to be there, so hopefully it will happen..

I would really like to find a copy!

Does anyone here know Mike Martino personally?

could someone ask him if another printing is being considered?

im sure many people would like to know!

thanks,

Scot

I believe Mike had them on Ebay last year for awhile. Other than getting one from those who bought SEVERAL copies, I don't know.

I bought my 2nd edition from Mike on eBay. He had plenty available, and, it took him a while to get rid of them.

I don't think you will have to worry too much about getting the 3rd. edition  .

Well..another year has passed by..

anyone ever hear any updates about a possible third printing of this book?

I just checked around on-line..a year ago they were selling for about $100, I just found two copies on-line..now they are $200! :D

(I can buy an actual tractor for $200! as much as I would love to find a copy of this book, there is no way I am ever paying $200 for a book!) :D

there still seem to be a lot of people who want this book!

So how about that Third printing! :ychain:

(anyone know Mike personally and can ask?)

thanks,

Scot
