lynnmor 8,105 #1 Posted November 3 Another year and another buck killed in front of my house. It wasn't killed outright and someone called the police, I notified my Amish neighbor and he came up as the cop arrived. The cop finished it off, took him 3 rounds from a 9mm! He had no problem with the Amishman taking it, so I hauled it with my 520H loader down to where he gutted it then up to the house all in the dark with the loader blocking my headlights. At least it didn't go to waste but the folks that are unaware of their surroundings need to get a clue about rutting season.
Ed Kennell 43,165 #2 Posted November 3 (edited) Thanks for helping to make use of the meat. No concern if a lawman dispached the deer, but FYI from the Pa Game Commission regs. Roadkilled Deer/Possessing Wildlife: It is unlawful at any time to possess live wildlife, except foxes for which a permit has been issued, or animals, or parts of animals, killed on highways. Pennsylvania residents may possess deer killed by a motor vehicle for personal consumption only if they secure a permit number from the Game Commission within 24 hours after taking the deer; call the appropri ate region office. It is not legal to kill “put it out of its misery” any injured wildlife; again, call the region office. It is unlawful to give the whole or edible part of a deer killed on a highway to another person. Holders of a valid furtakers license may possess a furbearer killed on a highway, except for bobcats, fishers or river otters. Persons taking possession of any furbearer killed on a highway during the closed season for taking that furbearer shall within 24 hours contact any Game Commission region office to make notification of said possession. They are on the move. Last week I watched two buck chasing four doe for over an hour. It's just a matter of time till the chase takes them across a road. I would think that low fat venison might be OK for you, at least in moderation.

Kind of weird, I did not have issues until I got in my 50's.

Lane Ranger 11,640 #9 Posted November 3 Local news reported two deaths this past week in just one Indiana county from hitting deer. Definitely something to be concerned about and watching for when traveling. The fall leaves 🍁 also camouflage the deer along the roadways in daylight! i having hit three deer to date in my lifetime watch carefully now! 1
