953 nut 62,343 #1 Posted November 2 Daylight Savings Ends every first Sunday in November, on November 2 this year, in most parts of the U.S. and marks the transition to standard time. It is the day Americans set their clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday night to end daylight saving at 2 A.M. The return to Standard Time means the sun will rise earlier and you can enjoy the rays of the morning when you wake up early! Although Benjamin Franklin, in his quote: “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise,” which was published in a letter in the ‘Journal de Paris,’ was the first to suggest the full use of daylight, he never mentioned setting clocks backward or forward. It was the New Zealander George Hudson who invented the modern idea of daylight saving in 1895 when he presented a paper to the Wellington Philosophical Society. 1 1
SylvanLakeWH 29,389 #2 Posted November 2 Arizona and Hawaii have it right on this one... I wish we all would follow their lead and stop this nonsense...
lynnmor 8,105 #3 Posted November 2 The Amish don't participate in the clock changing nonsense, they simply follow the sun for their work day. 1

I wish I could get away with that. In a month or so I'll be getting to work before its light out and leaving around sun down.

Wayne0 1,364 #7 Posted November 2 All I can say is WHY!! 50 years of working, dealing with the foolishness of f***ing with the clocks, I'm done. Keep standard time!
953 nut 62,343 #8 Posted November 3 We have an alarm clock/radio that was programed to reset itself from standard to daylight savings time and beck automatically. That worked well until Presidents George W. Bush and Obama changed things on us. Now for a week kin the fall and three weeks in spring we throw a towel over it so it won't mislead us.

An acquaintance who lives in Ecuador is jealous of our seasonal changes, including Daylight Savings, though. Their day length varies only a few minutes from 12 hours year round and the climate is remarkably constant. It gets boring, she relates!
