Between the three of us it only took about 15 minutes. Usually takes me an hour to plow by myself. 1
nylyon-(Admin) 8,504 #130 Posted December 4 We ended up getting only about an inch, then it turned to rain. Ended up just shoveling the driveway, needed to get out of the house and the exercise. 2

I own the plow tractor a little over a year and a half. I spent over 30 hours cleaning, detailing, and polishing it. It is all original except for the black band wrapping the front of the hood. The snowblower tractor is all original except the black on the hood as well. It is how I purchased it almost 4 years ago. It has 340 hours on it. I’ve put 6 hours on it in 4 years… 3

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought the blower and didn't know that the side panels are on backwards. At least it's an easy fix!
Racinbob 12,398 #138 Posted Sunday at 11:54 AM Well, the normal snowfall this season to date is just under 6". So far we've had just over 28". A sign of the winter to come? I'm an optimist. It's just getting it out of it's system and the rest of the winter will be mild. I'm an optimist. It's just getting it out of it's system and the rest of the winter will be mild. I'm an optimist. rjg854 12,613 #139 Posted Sunday at 12:29 PM The way winter is starting out, it looks as though we may have an old-fashioned winter. We haven't had cold and snow like this for many years. I don't see much change coming in the near future. So, bundle up and we may actually get some seat time this year. 1

Its rare for us to get any snow before January. Tuesday we had a full on storm with sliding and accidents, and a guy sideways in the lane.

I watch/follow several TV stations and websites for the weather. Out of the lot, National Weather Service seems to be the closest the most often around here. Nowhere near totally accurate but the closest. NOAA Weather as well is good. A couple weeks ago they put up the SCIENCE based long term probability forecast. (Not the half guessing almanac trash.) NOAA predicted below normal temps with average precipitation for December. They predicted average temps with average precipitation for January. For us here in Maine this means more snow than slush or rain in December and average snow in January. Over 10" this past week on the first storm was certainly a good start.

It’s interesting, because in years past according to my Facebook memories, we’ve had snow in October/November in recent years. Last year was interesting, as we got snow but it left as fast as it came. It was going to be 50/50 whether we were going to have snow on Christmas. It seems to be staying longer so far this year.
Blue Chips 378 #144 Posted Sunday at 03:47 PM We've been in Maine for 18 years, and the last 'big' snowstorm that I remember was ten years ago, when we owned a house in Alna. What you see in this photo is the exhaust stack of my 1953 Ford NAA tractor, and yes, there's a full-size tractor under it. Here's the same storm, with snow drifting up against my shipping containers. Interestingly, the wind didn't deposit any snow on my loader/backhoe. I hope we don't have a repeat of that weather, or any more nasty ice storms, even if the ice on the trees can be kind of pretty. The photo below is from 2013:

cleat 7,910 #147 Posted 13 hours ago Well, we finally got some plow-able snow. I think around 10" The trusty 520HC plowed that snow with no complaints (it has been back in the heated shop for a few hours so the snow is melted off of it). Yard looks much better now. Driveway is gravel so I have the blade skids set up around 5/8" or so.
Blasterdad 3,047 #148 Posted 7 hours ago Late to the party but here goes... This years prep procedure..... Blow leaves one last time before snow. Repower the snow machine, the old shaker plate Kohler was smoking & burning oil, time for a K341 big block. Tighten up steering, new thrust washers on spindles. Replaced the snowblower with one I've been saving, the old one only lasted 45 years. Just had to switch over the power chute control. ( The JD box was used to catch crud I scraped off the frame ). Ready to go... Procrastinate till it snows, take the CJ out to get at the plow for the truck, ( photo op Lol ). Put plow on truck, put the CJ back. Wait for our fun Thanksgiving snow storms & give her a workout! Ready for another 45 years. 1
