68 Raider 12.  The shield says K301 S 47147C which I think is the right one but do they hang off the side of the frame this much from the factory.

Yes, the overhang is the factory ensign. If look under the frame angle you will see 2 bolts going into the bottom of the oil pan. 
Your grey block is probable a factory short block, or red parts are from the original engine.

Awesome.  Makes sense why it seems to run so good and doesn't smoke any or make any noises.  I am not sure how long it was sitting before I got it running tonight but it was a long time.

Never heard it coined like that Jim but yes a service block or short block. Most often used if the original was ventilated or bore scored beyond 30 over.

@thekevin That oil pan Is  said above is from the early 60s. 63 to 65. I believe. I have a 64 engine that I put into a 66 tractor and it has that pan. I use some heavy duty J bolts to hold it down here’s a picture.   Because of the two bolts under the pan.Hope this helps.
