Sparky-(Admin) 23,892 #1 Posted October 25 With Isavetractors closed up and gone where are guys spending there money instead for the kind of items IST was selling? I was about to order a starter/generator rebuild kit when they sold out and then it was announced they were closing. There has to be another vendor that sells the same stuff at or close to the same price point .

I was thinking @Achto might know? I've heard DB Electric sells kits but also heard of issues.... Not sure if any of our regular vendors have them...
MainelyWheelhorse 2,142 #4 Posted October 26 I’ve had good luck with DB electric and Caltric on the jungle site for full starters. The Caltric starter on my 312 has lasted for 3 years with no issues. I haven’t heard anything about the kits though.

Right now I’m in need of a starter/gen rebuild kit for my 857. Don’t think K&B sells those. @76c12091520h

squonk 44,740 #10 Posted October 26 Starter gen bearings are common. Brushes were also very common through out the Delco Line. I bought a sleeve of the bearings off the Jungle last year and they work fine

I dropped eBay and PayPal years ago when I watched two guys I know bid on each others auction items to crank up the prices and it made me wonder how many items I had won that the price was pushed up by fakers. Occasionally they would actually push too much and win each others items. When that happened they would send a second chance offer to the next low bidder. I hated that!

This is why I don't actually bid. I shop around for what I need, reasonably priced, and with the buy it now option. 2
rmaynard 16,633 #14 Posted October 26 Mike, what I hate about eBay is too numerous to list. But when I started selling my brake linings, my ad would show up and that is all. Now, not only mine, but suggestions for other similar items. For example, below my listing for brake linings you will find Lowell's brake lining, complete brake bands, and brakes for other tractors. eBay doesn't care if buyers are driven to a different seller and I don't get the sale, they just want the fee for whoever sells it.

I do occasionally bid on items but only for very low prices. I also set a max. Other idiots doing idiot things.... 🙄 They can keep their stuff.
jsoluna 247 #16 Posted October 26 (edited) For engine internal components, rebuild kits, etc, I have used the eBay vendors bakt4kids, and Lil' Red Barn. I will say that the bakt4kids parts are decent quality and although I havent ordered a lot from them, what I have ordered measured within spec and fit properly. Lil' Red Barn I've had mixed results with. Quality control was an issue on two kits I purchased from them. Customer support is sometimes great, other times frustrating. Gasket kits contain some parts that are plain useless. For electrical components, the DB Electrical stuff isn't bad. I run an outdoor power repair shop, and one of our larger aftermarket parts vendors uses the same manufacturer for their starters, voltage regulators, electrical switches, etc as DB Electrical. JoeM 9,033 #17 Posted October 26 Definitely a crap shoot today. I know the fees on eBay are tough to chew on. I don't sell anything on auction just buy it now. The only biding I do is on the local auction sites and sometimes there are some mysterious bids. One thing about eBay, you can buy something and it shows up delivered in an Amazon box. I do try to check both sites and compare. Lately a tossup.

Once, when I worked for Advance, we put in an FDO order and the box that showed up was full of broken Snap-On tools instead car parts.
