Always liked the round hoods, finally found one complete enough/cheap enough.

My first truck was a 50 Ford F-2.  I like a bit of everything, currently have a 93 F250 IDI and a 03 GMC 1500 (long live the GMT800s).  Actually a Buick/Olds/Pontiac and Ford truck guy.  I mix it up.

Nice project. The 633 was one of the only 6hp :wh:'s with a Kohler engine. Most of the other 6hp models came with a Tecumseh.

I restored my 633 last winter / this spring.

I noticed that yours still has the up draft carb on it. Great for originality but they can be a bear to deal with. No harm if you wish to switch to a Carter carb. That's what mine has on it.

Ah haaa....

That is the next step after getting the ignition sorted.  The "original carb" needs gaskets and leaks like a sieve ($33+ for a rebuild kit), and someone tried to repair the intake.  Looks like the governor arm is all bent...

...but it looks like all I need to do is straighten it out, and make up a throttle rod.

That pic is for a big block Kohler, but yes you should be able to straiten the governor arm.

A pic of mine for reference.

@fiftyfordfloored Don't chunk that updraft carb. People that really go original are always looking for them.

I was never big on throwing parts away (bit of a hoarder).  If someone needs one I'd be more then happy to sent it to them.

One question I did have, it appears this year tractor should have the more square seat from the literature I've seen.  Was this farm tractor style seat an option, or was this likely swapped from an older model?  Wasn't planning on changing it since it's comfortable and looks cool, just curious.

Looks like you are well on your way to having your round-hood romping around the yard and a few shows.

I had a 1948 F-1 which I street rodded and drove over 100,000 miles.

You are correct, the seat has been changed. The correct seat is a square pan like the one on my 633. I like to stay as close to original as I can, but I don't blame anybody that changes out a square pan seat. They are not the most comfortable, I think that's because no body's butt is square. :D
