suspicious NOS valve

i got what is supposed to be a NOS k181 valve. it doesnt have the groove in the stem that others seem to have. does this look right?https://youtube.com/shorts/LIJq46q1Hbc

Measure the stem diameter with either a dial caliper or micrometer to see if it matches the Kohler spec.

An as-supplied new valve is made too long to allow you to grind the end of the stem to achieve your desired valve clearance. Doing so, favor the high side of the tolerance, as the valve gets "hammered" into the seat after time and closes up the clearance gap. The end of the ground stem must be flat and perpendicular to the shank.
