National Fruit at Work Day, celebrated on the first Tuesday of October, on October 7 this year, is a day set aside to encourage people to cut down their coffee and junk food consumption and embrace a healthier work lifestyle. Can you believe that National Fruit at Work Day has been a thing for over 21 years? Yes, it has been around for a while now. The day celebrates every fruit that has given us its delicious juiciness and boost in work performance. In fact, National Fruit at Work Day falls within that time when many fruits, known to boost productivity, come into season. That includes berries, bananas, and apples.

Jackfruit, that I'm familiar with, is from  Asian countries.  It's can be considered a specialty and some restaurants have jackfruit gardens. Something like beer gardens are here.  I have eaten it socially but wouldn't purchase it for myself.  The main reason is the smell and  taste.

Outside our daughter's bedroom window was a jackfruit tree.  Unbeknownst to us, was the odor emitted from this tree that led us to believe she had a dead mouse in her bedroom.

The smell is bad enough that hospitals and airplanes post notices not to bring jackfruit inside the building or terminal.

When asked to describe the taste, I'd tell folks "It tastes like rotten Vandalia onions."

Now bananas in Asia are a different story.  Many good and quite tasty species.
