Thanks Mikey.  I was going through purchase receipts today and noticed the name of the woman’s “business” had changed on her Cash App account.  New name, new scams, same deadbeat.  When I sent the first money of many transactions for the deposit,  Cash App did warn me that the account could be a scammer.  While we talked on the phone, she was so convincing.  :(

Went through the pictures on the auction website. I’ll say this, the winner can’t ever say “I didn’t know XX was broke or leaked”. Those pictures really covered all the flaws.

Yesterday, I dropped off the Reno Turd at the local auction house.  No reserve auction, here we come!  If anyone bids on it, I can store it here for a while 🤪

I don’t encourage you to bid, but feel free to follow along!

https://bid.repocast.com/lot/1138826/1997-monaco-dynasty-400-diesel-pusher-motorhome?fbclid=IwZnRzaARLYU9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEejx93XHNXdUdw8tov1ej0tac26kk_IiHtA7Ya_5NVvL-yeZG1Uv9ShsOMLVo_aem_rvwJEJmmV2MO-JcToTlo5g

Pre bidding ended today, and the auction is officially open.  I couldn’t stand seeing it at $115 sale price, so I added a few bids of my own.  It’s up to $1,500 currently, a far cry from our cost of purchase.

The bidding war was a frenzy, all the way up to $2,625 :sad-pacing:

It closed, I bid myself up to $1,700, I’ll never see the Turd again…

I knew we were getting into the Midwest, when I saw the orange cap of a Fleet Farm!  Tay got some drive time while I rested a couple minutes, but our 800 miles or so required a cat nap I guess.  Like @Achto, I usually get my best shut eye behind the wheel!

Um, that's not shorts.

Isn't this a dress-code violation?

We spent the night at Iowa 80 Truck Stop, and enjoyed a $17 shower and a trip to the fancy trucker buffet.  Pictures of not showering facilities for reference :handgestures-thumbupright:

Our morning started at 3:30am today, I practically slept in!  The rest of the trip home was uneventful too, and we achieved better fuel mileage with Eloise than with the turd.  On the similar return trip before, we hit 8.3 mpg without the genny running, and 7.9 factoring that in.  This trip, we calculated 8.63-8.9 mpg at various fill ups along the way.

8.9 mpg for a monster brick like this, and comparing that to 10 mpg for a regular cab 4x4 6.0l gas Chevy 2500HD I used to own, I’d call this excellent!

Happy that you like your new rig. Even happier that you had a safe trip. :handgestures-thumbupright: Even happier yet - that I wasn't footing the bill to fill that fuel tank.  :D

Glad you had a good trip home, thanks for sharing the picture of a dozen bales of hay,  OH,  The57 stovebolt has some nice patina on it too.

Yes, pushing a brick down the road at speed and getting over 8mpg isn’t too bad--comparatively.

8.75 mpg @ $4.70 is around 53¢ per mile?

Diesel around me is well over $5 a gallon, btw.

I have Mudflap, so there was pretty steep savings.  Not enough to see if it’ll race my wife’s Suburban, but for example on one fill up we saved $24 at the pump and another about $43!  That’s savings off pump price, not a silly credit in the next 2-10 business days.

Every little bit helps, right?

I’m guessing that towing a box trailer that fits neatly behind that rig wouldn’t put too big a hit on mileage, either. What are its tow ratings?

Joining Pilot saves 10¢ per gallon at the pump most of the time at the volume I use. The 100 gallon semi drivers get a better deal!
