horseman with no horse 55 #1 Posted September 20 is there a good loc tite that can take the heat from the exhaust that anyone knows of?
WHX?? 53,079 #2 Posted September 20 I would try the red it might be OK. I thought some one posted something about high heat... might have been for JB weld. Try checking their website ... https://www.loctiteproducts.com/
lynnmor 8,141 #3 Posted September 20 If you are asking about the bolts in the block, tap the holes as deep as possible, then get longer bolts and use a drop of oil.

That was me and it was for the partially eroded threaded exhaust on a Kohler 181. Regular JB softened too much. The ceramic stuff is holding after 3 years. As for the Onan’s, I’d be very leery of thread locking into the aluminum block. I like @lynnmor’s “longer bolt” suggestion.
horseman with no horse 55 #5 Posted September 20 (edited) im heli coiling it guys. i need SOMETHING to keep the coil in the threads is my point Edited September 20 by horseman with no horse

I’d suspect that the coil might even loosen upon a later removal of the manifold bolt. In your situation, I’d strongly consider drill/tapping to a larger bolt before opting for a heli-coil.
Bill D 2,394 #7 Posted September 20 A properly installed helicoil shouldn't come out easily. Red loctite is probably your best bet.
lynnmor 8,141 #8 Posted September 20 I made numerous parts for NASA, they heli-coil everything made of aluminum. Some of the manifold holes in a Onan can be made deeper eliminating the need for a heli-coil.
