National Eat A Hoagie Day takes place on September 14 every year and we’ve got the best tips to help you celebrate. A hoagie is a type of submarine sandwich or a long bread roll filled with meat, cheese, and veggies. Whether you call them submarine sandwiches, subs, torpedoes, po’boys, grinders, heroes, bombers, or submarines, these heavyweight sandwiches will always be a crowd favorite.

There was a place on Route 12 in Norwich that had the best! The only place I know of where they called them grinders was in CT.

60 years ago-maybe more-when we made the rare trip to K-Mart in St. Joseph, Missouri all the way from our farm, I'd spend my own meager funds to buy a subway sandwich.  Probably wasn't very good quality and likely cheap but I it was something I always looked forward to.   Good memories.

My all time GO-TO is a Muffaletta, The olive spread and selection of savory meats is outstanding and the lunch place we went to yesterday makes them so large I can only eat half in one sitting.    The flavors tend to infuse themselves into the bread over night so today's lunch will be even better.            :greetings-clapyellow:

  Muffaletta?
Is that a sandwich shop name? Or a type of sandwich? Never heard of it before.

EDIT: googled it. Other than the cheese it sounds great!
