Krice58 52 #1 Posted Monday at 02:01 PM Looking for some new tires for the C160. Mostly going to be used for pushing snow. From what I’ve read, turf tires seem to be the recommendation over Ags for the task. Looking for some suggestions as far as specific tires and where to get them. It’s currently got some 30 year old Carlisles on. Believe they are factory size, rears are 23x8.5x12 and fronts are 16x6.5x8.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,561 #2 Posted Monday at 02:25 PM 23 and 16 are the tire diameters. Not many seem to be that today so check them out so you know what you are getting. I just replaced some 18" tires with new along with new 18" tubes. Did not work. The tubes are still for 18" tall tires but the 18" tires are now only 16" tall. One tube split because it was folded up like an accordion.
ri702bill 9,617 #3 Posted Monday at 06:46 PM Tires are only part of what is needed to plow snow... A lot of us, like me, have dedicated winter and summer use tires mounted on their own rims. My preferred winter tireon my C81 is a turf design, has an inner tube filled with winter windshield fluid, 2 link chains and cast iron wheel weights. A similar but narrower setup on the 854. 2

I have chains and wheel weights I’m going to put on in addition to the tires.
ri702bill 9,617 #5 Posted Monday at 09:33 PM Chains come in 2 varieties - 2 link & 4 link. I added extra cross links to fill in every side chain link that sits flat to the sidewall. This provides 3 things... More weight on the wheel More traction grip surfaces - you always have 2 crosslinks in contact with the ground. Much less tire spinning. This gives a much better ride on a freshly plowed driveway. Four link chains with the least amount of cross links can rattle your teeth.
