John c 103 #1 Posted August 29 I'm working on my new 42 RD deck and I found a separate oil seal on the pulley end of the spindle shaft. I say separate because the others I've taken apart have just had sealed bearings. I can't find a part number for it, any of you guys seen this before ? Anybody got a part number for it ? Thankfully the PO had a greasegun, there's is not a thing wrong with the bearing, I'm planning to reuse them. Have a look at the seal I'm talking about, just below the top bearing, it has a number on it, are seal numbers like bearing numbers, kind of universal. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,612 #2 Posted August 29 Probably Toro part number 106075. The Chicago Rawhide/SKF replacement is 9907 Click on the fuzzy picture in this link and again on the thumbnails that come up. The L spindle is the original assembly and M, V and Z are later updated assemblies.
peter lena 9,356 #3 Posted August 30 @JOHN C. did you repack those bearings with LUCAS X-TRA HEAVY DUTY GREASE ? 550 flash point / polyurea rated , also did my mule drive bearings , and pto cone needle bearing , get the sealed outer cone bearing at napa , bearings are cleaned out to eliminate cross contamination of lubricants . all my decks spin easily , and do not whine with noise . improve lever start, area , easy . just a suggestion , pete
