horseman with no horse 48 #26 Posted yesterday at 08:01 PM (edited) im torn between one oem exhaust valve or a set of aftermarket valves. this is what i found on ebay Edited yesterday at 08:01 PM by horseman with no horse
horseman with no horse 48 #27 Posted yesterday at 08:21 PM i bought the set of aftermarkets. they have a 30 day policy for returns. if they seem iffy or dont lap in and run good then i will return it. also reading others posts valve guide replacement is almost always unnecessary and that grove in the exhaust stem is normal like others here have mentioned. whelp when i get them i will lap them in and set them and let you guys know how i feel about them. wish me luck. Its your engine and you can screw it up any way you want to or you can do it correctly. Your choice! Pages 11-6 and 11-7 of this manual may be of some interest to you. horseman with no horse 48 #30 Posted 20 hours ago and based on sections 11-6/11-7 my stem is fine therefore its not wore therefore the guide is not. its too out of spec to lap for 4 hours straight to get the clearance i need on the stem to tappet. so i need a new valve and the guide is fine...... the only thing that could be "wrong" is im using aftermarket parts so i have no idea what you mean by "wrong"
horseman with no horse 48 #31 Posted 19 hours ago ok so... i cancelled the set of aftermarket valves and bought the one NOS OEM exhaust.

horseman with no horse 48 #35 Posted 4 hours ago ok so i read the manual. if the spec of the guide doesnt exceed .005-.007 depending on what valve then the guide itsnt wore according to the documentation. i bought a new valve anyway. so all i can do is measure the guide clearance and if they check out everything should be proper. horseman with no horse 48 #36 Posted 3 hours ago i found these prime line guides for a good price, ive used their products before they are pretty solid. i cannot afford to pay 25 dollars a piece per guide. if anyone has a suggestion on where to get cheap quality guides or NOS guides for less than 52 dollars a set please let me know. horseman with no horse 48 #37 Posted 3 hours ago these ones are higher quality USA build guides i believe. but.... look at that seller... ive been warned about a seller with "barn" in their name. now i have a dilemma, do i suck it up and spend 52 bucks for OEM? or contribute to what i have been told is a scandalous seller by many on this forum?
