That's awesome, Eric! Camping and hiking is great.  Hah - I saw a T-Shirt at a visitor center in KY when I was camping there that said "HIKE!  Because people suck!"  :laughing-rolling:

I don't think I posted anything about that trip, back in June. I'll have to post some pictures and info.

Here's a nice bear 🐻 track.

Yeah, that's usually my signal to head back to the truck. Had a big black bear follow me for more than a half mile one night. I tell myself he was just curious. Myself calls BS on that sentiment...

Otherwise fantastic pictures!  Minus the scat of course!  I used to love to go camping. Still do, but never again without a large caliber repeating camp untensil and plenty of high capacity beans to feed it.

In all seriousness- Looks like it was a great time! :D

Up here there's no concerns of aggressive bears. The black bears 🐻 we have are still extremely docile herbivores for the most part. When they see or sense a human they run away.

We've encountered several.

Momma with cubs now... that's different.

Same for a moose momma. 🫎

The real concerns here are bull moose 🫎 in the rut and humans.

That said,

I should've clarified, IF I sleep, it's like a coma. The bears here don't have to forage as hard for winter, and like you said they typically avoid people. Seeing one is actually rare for the most part.

But the one that followed me almost 40 years ago? I still occasionally have nightmares over that rascal. He followed me to where my car was parked, and when I turned the headlights on him, he just stood up and stared at me. He was in the edge of a cornfield, and the corn was around 4 feet tall. He was well over two feet above it. I have always believed he was sick or something. He just didn't act right. Who knows, he probably (correctly) thought the same of me. :D

Bull moose? No sir, you can keep those crazy things! I've been told they will charge a moving train.
