gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,521 #2 Posted Tuesday at 10:24 PM It was made in 1991. Here is an illustrated parts list https://www.partstree.com/models/k181-30538-kohler-k-series-engine-service-version-8hp-6kw 2
ri702bill 9,533 #3 Posted Tuesday at 11:42 PM Tapered output shaft per the diagram - inline axial load from generator Not meant for pulley side load.. Not a good overall choice for a WH. If it's free -then carb, head, valves, etc are spare parts. Maybe the block too.... 2

How do you determine that? Looks like the crankcase picture shows two different side covers? One shows a ball bearing which is what I understood is side load compatible? The other is unclear to me. pfrederi 18,714 #5 Posted 12 hours ago It is a service engine It has Ball Bearings on the crank 231625 The crank is a straight crank 231797s for some reason the picture in the manual is bad but it is very similar to 231761 Should work fine for a WH
ri702bill 9,533 #6 Posted 8 hours ago I based my text upon the Partstree diagram.... that showed the tapered generator style shaft. Straight shaft - good. Ball bearing for side load - very good.
