I’m sure you can breathe some life back into that fine machine.  Not much hope for that operator, though.  But if he starts driving it, RUN!

Don't be such a Tecumseh hater just yet. My 654 Tecumseh runs great. I mow with it & plow snow too. Actually can count on a 60yr old tractor still to.this day! Installed a cheapo Chinese carb- it starts easy & runs good, much to my surprise. I sold my 604 to a guy who bought it for his grandson. He stays in contact & its still running good. I had put another Chinese carb on that one too. Seems like if you get a good runner the Tecumseh can be ok?? I still prefer to have a Kohler. I think the Clinton in my RJ is more finicky than either one of my past of current Tecumseh's.

Nice pick up Bob. Hopefully you can get the engine running. If not find a Kohler for it. Would be nice to use it decorate it up for the holidays. Enjoy it for what it is.

I know some don't like Chineseum carbs, but I've had good luck with them so far. Especially when you need a "temporary" model to allow proper rebuild of the original.

Either way, it might be better than original when it comes to a Tecchy!

@rmaynard You did well on that tractor. As an old buddy used to say, "Not sure if it's any good, but the price was right!"

Another machine saved. Always a good thing!

Chinese carbs for a Tecumseh are actually stocked in my garage. Neighbors bring me their snowblowers when the snow falls. A combination of bad gas and a long sit between uses usually clogs the carbs. It's faster to just throw on a new "Charburetor" than to rebuild the old one. I might just have one that will work on the HH100..

Meanwhile, today I went out and bought a battery. Oh my goodness, what was I thinking?

That you aren't as young as you used to be and it would be nice if the holiday decorations went into place under their own power, of course.

Bob my experience with Tecumseh although it was years ago, I was told by a member here who likes to Tecumseh said they like to be run more often than KHOLER engines and I gotta say he was right when I had the 607 657 and the 606 at one time.

Did the originals have air filters?  What about the “charburetors?”

No air filters on the "Sears" and other. No air filter screws on the Charburetors.

Buy a K-181 carb off amazon, the only thing that won't quite fit is the throttle linkage. If you need a running HH100 I'd sell you one off a Raider 10 for cheap. Name a price and add shipping and its yours.

I'll keep that in mind, although the idea was to keep the dollar amount as close to ZERO as possible. The new battery is usable on any of the other horses, and one of my "in stock" charburetors looks like it will bolt right up if needed. I'm sure that shipping on an HH100 would not be cheap.
