HH-100 - Where to begin

Recommended Posts

I just acquired a 1971 Raider 10 with an HH-100 engine. The engine has not run for a couple of years. Other than all the obvious things to check, does the HH-100 have any particular quirks that I should be aware of?

The big issue with older Tecs has been their Solid State ignition but that one probably has points

Nope, it has a non-working solid state ignition. Checked the secondary side and have 5600 ohms. Primary is open.

Yes it is. I guess I am going to have to try and build my own ignition system.

Any idea what models took that same coil?

It's alive! Installed the coil I received from @Easton Rich, cleaned the carburetor, and ran the starter. It fired right up.

I’m glad to hear Bob that everything worked out. Time to take it for a ride.

Currently rewiring the whole thing. A previous owner had 14ga wire going from the ignition switch to the starter. Obviously that wire was melted, as well as the five-pin connector. Hopefully I will have it ready for a little seat time soon.

@rmaynard  only thing I would suggest  is to  use , cable wrap,  and stick on , screw pads , like this ,https://www.google.com/search?q=stick+on+tye+wrap+mounts&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS866US866&oq=stick+on+tye+wrap+mounts&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEU makes wire running  much better , used that  often  on any  wire reroute , remember , THE REPITITION OF  A PROBLEM , IS YOUR CHANCE TO  MAKE THAT PROBLEM GO AWAY  , PETE

Just to repeat, this Horse was obtained for zero dollars. I don't intend to put much into it as it was only meant to be a temporary lawn ornament for Halloween. Getting the engine to run was not necessary, but helps to make it easier to move it around.

Well now that you got it to run and are rewiring it. And it didn't cost you anything you might as well beat it like a dead horse.   :deadhorse:

Well, it runs. It's an oil burner. But that doesn't matter. As long as it goes under it's own power to move it to the front of the house.

Glad to see I could help. Mine burned oil really bad too. I went with a 10hp gen start Kohler, but I see that motor swap won’t be done on yours. It’ll make good yard art!
