Beap52 1,481 #1 Posted August 2 Thought I'd throw this out to you all that live north and east of Missouri. Towards the end of September we are going to meet up with some friends in Des Moines, Iowa with goal of seeing Niagara Falls. My question is what are some suggestions you would recommend we might want to check out as I'll not likely be back that way again. I don't think we have much interest in going to New York City. We do enjoy historical sites. Thanks,
8ntruck 7,877 #2 Posted August 3 Just some ramblings off the top of my head: A stop at Greenfield Village near Detroit is worthwhile. Henry Ford Museum is also adjacent. Two days can be easily spent there. It is located in Dearborn, deep in Ford country. Detroit Art Museum is worth a stop as well. Bell Isle in the Detroit River has several attractions, one being the Dawson Great Lakes Museum. Chicago has several notable museums - the Field Museum of History, The Museum of Science and Technology (my favorirte), and the art museum. A trip to the top of the St Louis Gateway arch is interesting - particulary the ride to the top in what seems like a giant dryer drum. The Auburn Cord Duesenburg Museum in Auburn Indiana is pretty cool. Have fun and safe travels. Remember, this group likes pictures..... 1 1
