jsoluna 225 #102 Posted Wednesday at 10:24 PM (edited) Progress still going on in the background. Pics to come. Our YouTube channel has videos set to publish later this month. Flushed and filled transmission fluid. Replaced rear wheels and tires. Installed new high back seat with armrests. Replaced deck idler pulley, belts all around. Been using the unit pretty much exclusively around her for leaf cleanup, general town ng and dragging duties, and it has really proven itself to be a reliable, enjoyable machine. I also just found a basket case 520H literally five minutes from our shop....I think the bug has bitten. Edited Wednesday at 10:28 PM by jsoluna

That 520H would have good value for parts even if it isn't a restoration candidate. Deep rear wheels. Gear reduction steering. Forward splayed front axle. Eaton 1100 transmission. Get it!!
jsoluna 225 #104 Posted Wednesday at 10:30 PM Yeah, for the price it's worth it just for parts to keep them going for others. It is the latest iteration of 520-H with dash mounted control, swept axle, and it has all four hubcaps intact. Pretty stoked. I'll start a new thread for it.

jsoluna 225 #106 Posted yesterday at 03:49 AM New seat and rear wheel/tires. Really made a difference in how it feels and performs. I'm 6'4", so that's why the seat is so far back, but it is mounted on sliders. I've used these seats for other projects and you cannot beat them for the price and comfort. Tires I have also used on other projects and they excel in all conditions over ags except for clay/mud.

Forgive my poor memory here... Where the seat pan latches - is your latch and catch bar in excellent condition? That's a known trouble area for wear which will allow the pan to flip up. I'm not as tall as you at just over 6 ft but I'm larger in build. I keep the seats on my tractors about 2" further back than stock max position by using drilled steel square bar. The latch and catch NEEDS to be good and solid because we set back so far. 6 hours ago, jsoluna said: Tires I have also used on other projects and they excel in all conditions over ags except for clay/mud. Really like the look of those. We do have the mud here so I can't use them. Also a forest full of decomposing leaves. If I ever need a set for using with chains in the winter I'd consider buying those. Very nice!
Racinbob 12,284 #108 Posted 16 hours ago I've only had a couple tractors with the flip back pan. The latch being in good shape is important but I also added a spring to it under the sheetmetal. Added insurance. 1
jsoluna 225 #109 Posted 14 hours ago Thanks for the heads up - I will double check that latch and bar to make sure it's not an issue (preferably before it decides to dump me off the back 😊)
jsoluna 225 #110 Posted 14 hours ago For future reference: These tires are Ocelot P334 23 x 10.50 - 12.

Please don’t ignore the rearward shift of the center of gravity with that seat setup. Any weight moved aft of the axle changes from keeping the front down to trying to raise it!

I don't weigh much and I'm not planning on pulling a plow or doing any heavy clevis hitch work with it. I do live in a hilly area though, so it's always good to have a reminder. Gravity does not give you a warning. The sliders came with the seat. It is a Vevor forklift seat. You have to try one. I personally think they are fantastic for the price. Those fenders have a funny way of introducing new ways to dismount the machine. ...ask me how I know. I had no idea that I could flip that many times over level ground. 14 hours ago, Racinbob said: Added insurance. My FIL wants to put a big metal hood latch on his. He also has experienced the "C series flip".
