Yeah I made the build then just posted a few things on the other and then people were asking questions I posted that I had done a build tread in the beginning but I guess that didn't make it to far as to people still asking out on the other group not on the build page. Sorry for the miss information. 

 

The tractor runs great it has enough power for me in the seat and two kids on the bed and still pull a hill. 

 

The trans shifts nice if I did have the tourqe convertor which creates slip I don't think it would work. It is just like a four wheeler tourqe and trans setup 

 

 

Top speed is pretty quick in the field. I still can't stop so my son hasn't driven it yet I need to either adjust the brake or ditch it for twin hydraulic disc brake setup.

So I can't stop haha I'm going to mess around with the brake adjustment. If this manual brake doesn't work I'm ditching it and going to hydraulic 

 

 

Next year we are planning to go down to the big show it's like 2 hours away. We have never been there before. Is there camping on site or does everyone hotel it. When is the show so I can make plans for it already

That's the gear box I used works pretty smart. I need to adjust some after using it just a cable pull type deal

You may want to rethink your brake linkage before spending money on a hydraulic setup. Pushing on a rod is probably allowing too much flexing to take place, If your rod was being pulled the tension would be applied to the caliper much better.

The linkage I 3/8 hemi joints to .5 8th inch wall tube then the z bar I upgraded to the same the only part that's not is the link between the z bar and the brake lever. The z bar is 12 inch with 6 inch center pivot. I'll send some pictures

Don't mind the paint I'm very annoyed that it's still wet and it was painted Saturday.

Any play at the pivot points and linkage will have the effect of shortening the movement of your brake caliper arm.

If you moved the rod above the pivot point I think it would work much better. You could use the brake pedal from ant eight speed to do this.

Yeah, probably best to keep all that linkage higher so it can't get caught on something like a rock and stop the tractor.

But having them connected like this would add more mechanical leverage force to the bake

Thanks I see what your getting at here. It would take it from a push to pull. I even thought about extending the arm on the brake caliper to try and do away with the crazy link arm

It's a fine line between the mechanical advantage and the distance to move the pedal 

Just went back and looked at your pics.

If you can make a bracket to move that fulcrum point on the angle piece to gain the mechanical advantage it might be the easiest fastest solution.

I went back to the instructions haha had to dig them out of garbage who reads them... so I adjusted them and they work but not great so maybe if I lower the top hole like that drawing and keep the bottom long that should help. Even used brass washers to smooth things out

Crowbar method long handle piviot point short side pulls nails out perfect so if I go with that theory apply it to my z bar the top side connecting the caliper should be short then the bottom should be long should increase force. I'm thinking of making a hemi joint top link maybe help with

Moving it half way down would double the amount of force applied to the caliper arm

Would that trans mount directly to the torque converter bracket and replace the existing shaft it came with? 

I was looking at them on epay but it didn't show that. Maybe made to just mount the drive pulley on it and skip that bracket which holds the driven shaft but IDK. Just curious. Driving it with a chain like you did accomplishes the same thing

The show is actually the Fri after Father's Day. Set up day is Thurs. The Show is basically over by noonish on Sat.

Yes I have seen people do that and with out the tourqe convertor plate you can do that but I was really trying to get gear reduction so I kinda went the way I went for like a jack shaft setup. Gearing is tourqe convertor to 10T to 15T to gear box to 12T to 60T. So it really slowed things down.

Set up starts at 9AM. Find a spot and start kabitzing.

If you can make it there is well worth it. Always friendly, a good time and plenty to see.

If it's Wheel Horse it will be there. The majority are regular old worker tractors but there are always a good amount of very nice restored or original stuff plus quite a few customs as well. Search through the show pics on here
