Brockport Bill 1,939 #1 Posted July 22 i had someone ask me about purchase of an entire spindle replacement unit -- i know we have a reliable vendor here at Red Square that sells spindles ( the housing or full unit i recall ) - and i suppose there may even be NOE spindles available -- but i was asked the reliability of the knockoff full spindle units now sold on Amazon for $56 - i have no idea if any RSq folks have had any experience with them - personally it would not be my choice but was wondering the durability,, life span, etc if anyone had tried the cheapies? ri702bill 9,419 #2 Posted July 22 As they say, "Ya gets what ya pays for". I would consider one, but would disassemble it before use to flush out the Chinesium garbage grease in the bearings and repack them with Lucas green X-Tra Duty grease. @peter lena would approve!!
oldlineman 1,537 #3 Posted July 22 I know that price and availability are big concerns, but for me I like to support local and USA made items when possible. Having said that, if need to purchase cheaper items is required then I would do as ri702bill has stated above. Bob
RED-Z06 2,573 #4 Posted Wednesday at 10:39 PM For many years WH spindles have been limited stock and the price reflected it, hundreds of dollars per spindle...it put alot of decks in the scrap yard, good rebuilt spindles were listed for hundreds of dollars. Now the imported spindles have really changed the game, you can go out and get a new set of 3 for less than one rebuilt one a few years ago.
peter lena 9,272 #5 Posted yesterday at 12:48 PM @Brockport Bill every and any spindle I have has WIDE RUBBER GREASE SHIELDS ON THEM ? what could you possibly do ? you know the original " grease " is going to fail and get whinny noisy , every related bearing I have has a 550 deg flash point lubricant , very easy spin up and no noise , my mule drive also engages with no screaming / squealing / make a change , pete /

johnnymag3 2,568 #7 Posted 22 hours ago (edited) I just did a rebuild / service on a John Deere for a customer....OEM JD Spindles are made in CHINA... I could not find any US made anywhere. I do think we are ending an era of anything made here anymore... Its very sad.. That being said, reviews for the 8TEN Spindles were very positive. they came empty and I filled them with Lucas RED extreme pressure....They are all cheapies, and even though they say OEM ,they carry the OEM price only. C-85 753 #8 Posted 16 hours ago I have bought a pair of the 8Ten spindles and have only used them a few times and have had no problems. They are built a little different, but seem to go on and work well. C-
