Working on fixing and cleaning the motor its not the right motor but it will work for right now it's a 8hp not a 7hp

Work a little on the 704 got the motor bolted on and some other stuff put on too have a question does it used a fuel pump on the motor or not

Even though the fuel tank is mounted pretty high, a fuel pump of some type works best. It will keep the fuel supply consistent in the least. 

 

Kohler mechanical pumps are pretty good. You can't go wrong with the correct OEM pump for that engine. 

 

Electric pumps are good if you get a high quality version, but the hard part is finding a decent one with the correct pressure. 1 or 2 psi works best, and too much pressure can force fuel into the crankcase which will destroy the engine.

Drive belt and guard and engine pulley are done I put a temporary 704 sticker on for now

OEM depends on the the spec. If a service motor probably not. One was to use the pump off the old motor. Wouldn't hurt to have one but most likely would need a vacuum style or the type with the offset lever.

On the round hoods, the tank is just about even with the carb. On my ’68 LR with a Tecumseh, there was no fuel pump so once the fuel level got to about ¼ tank, going up a decent pitch would starve the engine–my signal to refill the tank!

Yup. My 704 had a bad pump and about a 1/4 tank it would quit.

Got it running and driving today and it did really good I'm glad I save it from a graveyard will put more pictures when I put new shoes on it tomorrow night

Paint it    That looks perfect the way it is, after all it is a survivor, buff that out and give it a clear coat.

@Chrishar it’s looking great?  I’m  vote for no fuel pump needed. Putting Putt my 502 has run for 12 years with no fuel pump and no fuel issues.

It's only original once,                             don't even clear coat it, just celebrate the patina.
