National Waffle Iron Day is celebrated on June 29 every year as a way to celebrate the invention of this amazing device that allows millions of Americans to enjoy their breakfast. Waffle irons are found across homes in the United States and are used to make many varieties of waffles, ranging from the simple waffle to the fancier and more modern takes on this favorite breakfast food.

I'll have a side of deer scrapple with that waffle. Oh, and smothered it with pure Pa maple syrup.

I just tossed out a large container of maple syrup because it had a lot of mold even though it was kept refrigerated.  In the future I will only buy small quantities, preferably in glass bottles, and use it up rather quickly.

I buy two gallon/year and give half to the family.     I keep it refrigerated for over a year.   Some sugar does settle to the bottom with age, but I set the jug in a pot of boiling water for 30 minutes, let it cool and refrigerate and it is like new.

My guess is it was not pure maple syrup.   Most of the advertised "Pure Maple Syrup" is a combination of everything but maple syrup.

clueless

Over the past 50 years I have eaten at Waffle House at least 100+ times, never had their waffles though:snooty: I'm an eggs, grits, bacon and hash browns guy:handgestures-thumbupright: although maple syrup does go great on bacon.

It was Sam's Club that says: Member's Mark Organic 100% Pure Maple Syrup (32 oz.)  I did some reading and problems with mold often comes from how it was handled when bottled, spores can live if the syrup and the bottle isn't kept hot enough till it is sealed.

We celebrated National Waffle Iron Day yesterday without realizing it.  My wife bought a cheapie waffle iron that makes a round waffle about 5" in diameter last week.  Tried it out yesterday.  Works well for the two of us.

We still use our waffle iron that was a wedding gift.    Hmm, that makes it 62 years old.
