Teddy da Bear62 103 #1 Posted June 24 Wellllllllllll............. I went to start my C-160.........beautiful... Drove it out on the driveway ............beautiful... Shut it off and went to cleaning my garage. Hey! I found another dash-dust shield like the one that melted in the fire!......beautiful .. I installed it behind the gas tank......beautiful... Back to cleaning the garage....... Later putting things away in the garage before I go to work. Went to start the C-160........nothing!!! Not a click of solenoid.....nothing!!! I went over the wiring behind gas tank ....everything seems ok. Removed full gas tank to get a better look. Checked single fuse.....fuse good. What the hell happened??? Does this m-fkn, G.D. POS wheel horse hate me??? I'm about to show it what a real fire is like!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 So its 211°F. outside, no working tow valve and 25ft of lifting rear end and pushing until I get it back in garage!!!!!! Today I hate wheel horses...... 2
rmaynard 16,372 #2 Posted June 24 Did you make sure that the PTO lever is not engaged? Also, check the pedal switch, and seat switch.

Seat switch was bypassed long ago. Never engaged to, but I will check. Clutch/brake safety switch worked before, but will bypass it soon! I'm calmer.....but still hate this horse.
rmaynard 16,372 #4 Posted June 24 I feel your pain, but there is never a Wheel Horse electrical problem that can't be solved with a cool head, a good meter, and the proper wiring diagram. A tractor that was previously running but doesn't run later the same day is usually human error. Just my

SPINJIM 1,986 #6 Posted June 24 (edited) Make sure that your clutch pedal is actually making contact with the clutch kill switch. Don't ask me how I know that could be the problem. Then check for corroded electrical connections, like I had last week after my WH sat for a while. First try, it started OK. But then the vibrations caused a poor connection. Teddy da Bear62 103 #8 Posted June 25 Today it started! I made no corrections and no changes!! This tractor is going to put me in an early grave!!!!! 😭😭😭 I swear when I walked by? It gave me the finger!!
oliver2-44 10,781 #9 Posted June 27 @Teddy da Bear I think I sense the problem, or I should say your tractor is sensing the problem. Our beloved Wheel Horse are not like other tractors, they have feeling and get attitudes like real horses. it's sensing you frustration, and playing it up! Now we all know the C160 was top of the line in it's day, a true Through-Bred. Maybe just maybe you need to talk sweeter to it, give it a rub down more often, premium ethanol free fuel to sip, AC/Heated storage, etc. ---------- Then again, some high strung horses just need a good punch in the nose/tire when they continually act up.

I did give it a swift kick in the tranny! I told it if it doesn't straighten up and fly right? The other C-160 is going to become my main squeeze!
Teddy da Bear62 103 #12 Posted June 29 I did figure out the likely source of the problem. The 4 pin connector that plugs in to the back of the rectifier. The wiring harness is stretched so tight? It would be the envy of a tight rope walker. It's possible when I stuffed in my motorcycle cover in to smother the fire? I pulled the connector part way off. Just enough to play hit and miss with it starting.
clueless 3,263 #13 Posted June 29 So it wasn't the tractors fault, it was yours.

The charging circuit has nothing to do with the starting circuit. You can pull the plug completely off the rectifier and the tractor should start with all other connections made properly.
