mrc 937 #1 Posted June 17 hi men, trying to help a young local guy setup his horse for various duties. he wants to: snowplow till move trailers i know he needs the snowplow/tiller rear tach-a-matic apparatus that bolts to the tranny. when tilling can the original wh drawbar stay on the tranny? when tilling can a receiver style rear hitch stay on the tranny? thank you in advance regards mike
ri702bill 9,349 #2 Posted June 17 Mike - I for one find it way easier to move trailers with a front mounted hitch. I use it on the C81; made it out of an old mule drive idler and a HFT ATV hitch that cost 11 bucks... Problem solved (unless he has a Round Hood without the Tach-a-matic) 2
mrc 937 #3 Posted June 17 i agree with you bill that a front mount hitch might be better for moving trailers. with the added tongue weight up front is it hard to steer? i will discuss this option with the young man. thank you mike
Pullstart 66,637 #4 Posted June 17 There is an interference with the hitches and the tiller. No go. 1

But - I usually just pull the trailer out in a straight line, cut the grass in that area with the 854 and push the trailer straight back. There are times I have moved it onto the driveway - steers well. And - I am terrible backing up a trailer with a short wheelbase tractor using the rear hitch!! 1
peter lena 9,233 #7 Posted June 17 @ri702bill like your set up ! often refer to ball hitches , have them on every hook up , makes things very simple , for a back up , push down to ball , your done . also leave anything set up with a height holding rod , for quick swap .REPEDITIVE USAGE , SHOWS YOU THE WAY , also do that on problem areas , make a change and eliminate it , only me , pete

No all hitches must be removed for a tiller. Except of course the axle bracket. 2 hours ago, mrc said: added tongue weight up front is it hard to steer? Not terrible unless the trailer has a very heavy tongue weight. 2
Goldnboy 1,027 #9 Posted June 17 (edited) You can use a non wheelhorse tiller with sleeve hitch and leave the drawbar on too. Sears made them at one time and was a attachment for Wheelhorse I believe at one point. Here is what I use. Edited June 17 by Goldnboy
