Sodaking27 1,049 #1 Posted June 11 (edited) Still shaking down the C175. Today was the first time I’ve really ran it for a considerable amount of time. I noticed when I got finished the inside of the front wheel was covered in soot. I did notice it was running a little rough when not under load. Things that have been done prior to today’s usage. New plugs, coil, condenser, carb cleaned, new fuel lines, air and fuel filters. I thought it was probably the carburetor. I pulled the plugs to see what they looked like expecting to see both carbed up. Rear plug looked fine. Front plug was carbon covered. Could this possibly be a valve problem in the front cylinder? Thoughts? Compression test showing 110lbs in each cylinder. Edited June 11 by Sodaking27

Sodaking27 1,049 #3 Posted June 12 (edited) @953 nut I swapped the coil and wires from another KT17. Same issue front plug was full of soot and rear plug was clean. Still running rough and soot out the muffler. Soot is not noticeable to the eye. Edited June 12 by Sodaking27
Sodaking27 1,049 #4 Posted June 16 Tried a different carburetor to see if it would make any difference. Same issue with the new carb. Next step will be to pull the heads.
oliver2-44 10,976 #5 Posted June 16 Do you have access to a leak down tester?
